Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Arab Millennial’s General Manager was invited by Facebook to join its first Communities Summit.

Shatha Sbeta, Arab Millennial’s General Manager, will be representing Arab Millennial at the Facebook Communities Summit which will take place in Chicago, IL, from June 21 to June 24.

The Summit is part of Mark Zuckerberg’s humanitarian manifesto (https://www.facebook.com/notes/mark-zuckerberg/building-global-community/10154544292806634) that he wrote on February of this year. The manifesto outlines his desires as Facebook’s founder and CEO to create a world where community leaders are empowered. The manifesto explains the tools that Facebook aims to create for community leaders to run and grow their communities.

The Summit will bring together selected hundreds to a 3-day summit where presentations and workshops led by Facebook executives and teams will be held. Attendees will learn about the new products Facebook is building that aim to help group admins grow and manage their groups. The Summit is an opportunity for attendees to outline what they need from Facebook for their communities to flourish, and for their goals to become achievable.

Zuckerberg writes: “A healthy society also has many layers of communities between us and government that take care of our needs. When we refer to our ‘social fabric’, we usually mean the many mediating groups that bring us together and reinforce our values. […] In a world where this physical social infrastructure has been declining, we have a real opportunity to help strengthen these communities and the social fabric of our society.”

Mark Zuckerberg will be joining the selected admins to give a keynote at the Summit Opening ceremony. Here is his announcement https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10103777403365171&set=a.529237706231.2034669.4&type=3&theater.

Therefore, this Summit will help strengthen these social fabrics by bringing group admins together in Chicago to learn from one another and to make (and be!) the positive change we all want to see in the world.

With media and press present throughout the Summit, our esteemed General Manager aims to achieve the following goals:

Gain more visibility for Arab Millennial
Build strong networks for Arab Millennial
Become familiarised with the tools and features of Facebook to better the Arab Millennial Talk Shop Facebook group as well as the Arab Millennial main Facebook page.
